Europe’s Copernicus emergency system activated to manage floods

SERTIT, highly involved in the European Copernicus Emergency Management Service, explains in a video on Euronews how satellite imagery can provide a support to disaster management, within the context of the recent and current floods in France, Germany and Belgium.
Remote sensing and geomatics training session for rapid mapping
23 May – 3 June 2016

The ICube-SERTIT platform hosted from May 23 to June 3, 2016, two experts from the Civil Protection of Algeria in order to enhance their emergency response remote sensing and GIS skills. Dedicated to rapid mapping, the training session focused on providing information on how to react to different types of disasters such as floods, earthquakes, fires or landslides.

This training session was funded by the French embassy in Algeria through Campus France.

Satellite imagery from the Sentinel constellation were in particular highlighted with ArcGIS and Orfeo Toolbox being mainly used to process Earth Observation data.

SERTIT congratulated by the forest sector

The SERTIT platform of the ICube laboratory received on November 27, 2015 at the 10th National Congress Aprovalbois in Dijon, the 1st prize Innovation Awards in the forest industry in the Innovation category based media marketing, ICT, strategy, marketing and services.

This event aims to reward companies in the north of France developing a product, a service, an organization or an innovative process in the forest industry.

SERTIT is congratulated for its project on the development of a forest inventory method using satellite images to map the chestnut in Alsace.
